Julia Robertson is a PL Legend. It
is as simple as that.
Joining the school in 1993, Julia has embodied
all that is Preston Lodge, over many years of service, and other than a brief
secondment to John Muir House, she has supported students, developed staff and
ensured our school is welcoming, nurturing and inclusive.
Julia was, of course, the Head of
Seton House, and her passion for all things Seton has been such a big part of
our House Competition. Julia was also responsible for so many fundraising
events, it was hard, at times, to keep track. Many community organisations have
benefited immeasurably from her energy and enthusiasm.
As Head of House, Julia and her team made sure
that students had their needs met, and over her time at Preston Lodge so many
students, and their families, have been supported by her care and attention.
Staff, too, have been lucky to
work with Julia. As well as leading the best possible programme for newly
qualified teachers, Julia coordinated East Lothian’s Middle Leaders scheme. Her
interest in leadership development has really moved forward many staff within
and beyond our school. Most importantly of all, Julia was a great friend and
supporter of many, many PL staff.
Julia loves an event, and PL
events have are impressive and enjoyable, in no small part because of Julia’s
eye for detail, and work to ensure that everyone felt special when they came to
PL. The S6 Prom, the school dances, the Senior Citizens’ Christmas
Concert—visitors to PL have felt relaxed and happy, because of Julia’s care and
attention.
We are so grateful for Julia’s
commitment to our school and community, and we are delighted that she will
remain a trustee of the Preston Lodge Learning Foundation. Julia will be
missed, for sure, but her legacy will continue, and our school’s culture has
been changed forever.
Thank you, Julia, for all that you
have done, and we wish you the very best in your next steps in life.
